Hi Roger - Good article...and great point about the virtual book tour through tools like WebEx/GoToMeeting.

I would actually boil it down to something a bit simpler like this....
1) Blog sections of your book before it comes out on your own site or syndicate it to other/larger sites.
2) Hire a good book PR person with lots of contacts.
3) Offer a free downloadable chapter when the final edit/design is finished.
4) Give copies of your book to media outlets to offer book give-aways to raise awareness.
5) Help out other authors to promote their book in exchange for them promoting yours.
6) Connect to alumni/trade groups that would be interested in hearing what a fellow alum or business person has specialized in.
7) Guest blogging/writing
Looking forward to reading your other posts.

I would actually boil it down to something a bit simpler like this….

Roger, thank for all the great details about launching a marketing plan for a new book.

I love the fact that you have all the pre launch stuff in there because most writers are so focused on getting the book done that they forget the importance of prelaunch marketing.

Do you think an author can use http://www.FastMarketingPlan.com to lay out there initial book marketing plan then use it as a calendar to get the marketing tactics done? Also, do you thing the Monday Morning reminders would be helpful at all? Just wondering.

Thanks Roger for your great contribution to the writing world.

FYI, while packing up my office to relocate I ran into your book Looking Good In Print" it's will always be a classic in my library, one of the book i'll never part with.

Sandy Barris
CEO
www.FastMarketingPlan.com
