BLOGTASTIC!: The value of quality readers

When I talk about quality readers, many people ask me to explain what I mean. After all, a quality reader for someone’s blog may not be a quality reader for someone else. People tell me that every reader could be a quality reader.

I disagree with that argument. Upon thinking further, I also notice that those people who already have quality readers never seem to argue about this topic. They know the value.

Quality readers don’t waste their time searching through stupidity. If they don’t see value in your blog, they will move on. More importantly, they probably won’t come back to your blog. Quality readers won’t be loyal to your blog until you post quality content for a long time.

While it’s important to know how many people read your blog, it’s also important to know who reads your blog. Quality readers may stumble upon your blog, but they won’t stay there for long without a good reason to do so.

In fact, your audience will really define the value of your blog. Just like you, your readers have a choice on where to spend their online time. Remember that if it is easy for you to start a blog, it is easy for others too.

Pick a topic and you will see that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of blogs on the topic. If you don’t provide a decent return on investment to quality readers, they will find an alternative to your blog very quickly.

Blogging Tip: It is not the quantity but quality that matters

Few bloggers require readers to pay to access their blog. That means nobody spends money to read your blog. However, readers spend their time to visit and read your blog.

Your competitors’ blogs are also free. Quality readers have a choice, and even though they are not spending money, they are investing time. They will use it appropriately to get the most of their blog-reading time.

Think about how you can give your readers a huge return for their time investment and start executing on this goal.

You’ll soon realize that the same rule applies outside of the blog. It is hard to attract powerful people to be your friends when you are not powerful for them to consider being in your company.
