Dirty Dozen #5 – Indifference

dirty-dozen-indifferenceThis is part of the “Dirty Dozen” series. In Part #4, we covered the word “Mediocrity.” Today we will cover the word “Indifference.”

Dictionary definition:
Lack of interest, concern or sympathy

Indifference manifests itself in many ways – almost everyone of these manifestations will affect you in a negative fashion.

For example, indifference may appear as an inability to take a stand on an important topic. If that topic is of significance to you, not taking a stand is actually taking a stand to NOT take a stand. Sitting on the sidelines may just postpone the consequences for a short while but you can’t escape from the consequences permanently.

Indifference may also manifest itself as a lack of intensity. Intensity is one of the attributes that makes stars superstars. Lack of intensity will delay your journey towards your goals unnecessarily.

Most people who are indifferent don’t know that they are indifferent. It is almost like they are indifferent to the indifference that they demonstrate. This is the reason why you need to surround yourself with smart and caring people who can bring this forth to you for your own benefit.

On the other hand, if you know you are indifferent to something that is important to you, take some time and get some help to find out why you are indifferent. If you know that you are indifferent to something important, you also know that it is hurting you NOW and it will hurt you LATER. You owe it to yourself to start doing something about it TODAY!
